Krill

Euphasia sp.

Antarctic krill serve as the backbone of the food chain in many ecosystems, and the marine habitats of Keats Island are no exception. This is one of the more than 700 species of marine and terrestrial organisms that we have found on the island so far!

Biodiversity of Keats Island

Explore the rich biodiversity of Keats Island. This project is a passionate endeavor, created by Else Mikkelsen, to document and celebrate the island’s diverse ecosystems. Keats Island boasts mature coastal Douglas-fir, Western Hemlock, and Western Redcedar forests, and a substantial portion of its land remains untouched by development.
