Meet Sachi and its partner Hiro . These are octopuses in the genus Grimpoteuthis, that includes many species of dumbo octopi. Sachi and Hiro separated from each other and its time for them to meet again to start their family. However, danger is afoot. In recent years, plastic pollution has affected populations of dumbo octopi and the density of plastics in the ocean increases every year. Sachi and Hiro could be one of the last dumbo octopi if they can't manage to find each other.
Print the board and objects at a size convenient for you (usually a A4 size format). The board is labeled like a Battleship board, where each cell has a coordinate based on a letter (row) and a number (col).
Once you cut the plastic bottles and the drawings of Sachi and Hiro, place the octopi at opposite sites of the board, one at F1, the other at F12 or A12.
Two plastic bottles should be placed at random on the board each turn. Once per turn, roll the dice provided below to determine where to place the new plastic bottles. Once the 'dice' button is pressed, two coordinates should appear.
Pressing the dice has another effect. From time to time, the word "Greenpeace!" will appear. When this happens, select two plastic bottles and remove them from the board BEFORE placing the new ones and moving the octopi.
The goal of the game is to make Sachi and Hiro find each other in adjacent cells . You can move one or both octopi per turn. Each octopus can move in any direction, including backwards. However, it can't land on rocks or plastic bottles, and have to always maintain a distance of at least one cell from any plastic bottle.
The game ends when Sachi and Hiro find each other, or there are no more available moves or routes that at least one of the octopi could take to find each other.
You can use the dice on the right to help you play the game
